Lion’s Mane: fruiting body, extracts & research
Lion’s Mane is Hericium erinaceus, a mushroom studied for cognition. Clarimind uses 500 mg of organic fruiting-body extract per two capsules, standardized to 30% beta-glucans.
Fruiting body vs. mycelium
The fruiting body is the visible mushroom; mycelium is the fungus’s network of filaments. Mycelium is not a root. These materials have different compositions, so the part used belongs on the label. Fruiting-body sourcing alone does not prove that a supplement performs better.
What the human research can tell us
A small 16-week trial studied older adults with mild cognitive impairment using mushroom powder. That preparation and population differ from Clarimind. More recent findings are mixed; the linked 2025 study did not find an overall cognition or mood benefit.
